Suracode — Disclaimer Addendum
This addendum supplements the Dignity Labs Base Disclaimer. It covers feature-specific limitations for Suracode.
Suracode cannot guarantee protection against all scams or fraud.
The App provides a shared code word, scam alerts, a pattern checker, family voting, and gesture verification. These are layers of protection. They are not, individually or collectively, a guarantee against any scam.
Scammers are constantly evolving their techniques. While a family code word is recommended by security experts (including the FBI, Which?, and the National Cybersecurity Alliance) as a useful layer of protection, it is not foolproof.
Examples where the code word may not help: a scammer who has already obtained your code word, social engineering that does not require voice verification, phishing emails or text messages, scams targeting online accounts, or in-person impersonation.
Always exercise caution. Be suspicious of unexpected requests for money. Verify requests through multiple channels. Never share banking details or PINs with anyone. Report suspected scams to Action Fraud (UK), FTC (US), Scamwatch (AU), or CAFC (Canada).
The scam pattern checker compares screenshots against known indicators using on-device OCR. Screenshots are processed entirely on your device — images are never uploaded.
Important:
The checker compares against categories including: urgency pressure, financial requests, impersonation, suspicious links, personal information requests, threats, too-good-to-be-true offers, and secrecy demands.
Alerts are sourced from official organisations including NCSC, Action Fraud, FCA, Which?, UK Finance, Age UK, Citizens Advice, FTC, and Scamwatch. We cannot guarantee their accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Alerts may not cover all active scams. There may be delays between a scam emerging and an alert being published. Alerts are for awareness purposes only.
Screenshots are shared outside the App (via WhatsApp, text, email, or in person). Votes represent your family's opinions, not verified facts. Family members are not fraud experts. The final decision remains your responsibility.
The gesture verification feature is one layer of protection, not a guarantee against deepfakes. Deepfake AI is improving rapidly; future technology may perform gestures in real-time. Family members may forget the gesture or perform it incorrectly. The App displays the gesture to you — it does not verify whether anyone performed it. Always combine with other verification methods. Trust your instincts.
No output of Suracode — including risk levels, votes, gestures, audit records, or any other feature — is intended for use as evidence, proof, supporting material, or due diligence in any legal, regulatory, insurance, banking, financial, or dispute resolution proceeding of any kind.
See the Suracode Terms Addendum (Section S7.8) for the full evidentiary limitations and anti-fraud provision.
Your code word is encrypted on your device using AES-256-GCM before being transmitted. However, encryption is only as secure as your device and PIN. If someone gains access to your unlocked device, they can see your code word. We cannot recover your code word if you lose access. We cannot verify the security of your device.
Elderly users may need help setting up the App. Regular practice is recommended. Consider writing down the code word in a secure place as a backup. The App supplements, but does not replace, good communication.
Children under 13 should not use the App without parental supervision. Teach children about scam awareness alongside using the App.
